Clark off the board, commits to Wright State

June 30, 2009

Kegan ClarkKegan Clark, a 6-foot-4 forward from Jeffersonville, said today he has verbally committed to Wright State.

“After going through their campus and seeing how their coaches run things, I felt like it was the perfect fit for me,” Clark said. “(The coaches) think I have the potential to be a solid player, and that I can come in and contribute to the team.”

Clark, who also fielded interest from Eastern Illinois, IUPUI and Miami (Oh.), visited the Raiders’ campus — located in Dayton, Oh. — on two occasions.

The entire Jeffersonville team recently participated in a one-day shootout at Wright State, and Clark, along with his parents, took another tour today of the school.

“Having my college plans set will allow me to focus on my own game and on helping my team get to the next level with no pressure of a decision hanging over my head,” he added.

Jeffersonville coach Tim LaGrange is excited about his player’s decision, too.

“I feel it’s a great fit for Kegan,” LaGrange said. “I think it’s great for our program. But most importantly, it’s great for Kegan and his family. Anytime a kid can secure a free education – especially at a Division I school – that’s a big deal. As a program, we’re happy for Kegan.”

Next week, Clark will rejoin his Spiece Indy Heat AAU team which is slated to participate in five tournaments in July – the Hoosier Shootout (Indianapolis), the Kentucky HoopFest (Louisville), the Best of the Midwest (Indianapolis), the Hoop City Classic (Kansas City, Mo.) and the USSSA National Tournament (Fort Wayne).
