Indiana All-Stars rally late to edge Juniors in Washington, 117-113

June 6, 2011

Indiana All-StarsWashington standout and Indiana University recruit Cody Zeller, Indiana’s 2011 Mr. Basketball, turned in a magnificent performance Monday night in his final game at the historic Hatchet House, racking up a game-high 26 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks.

But it was the heroics in the waning moments of the game by Warsaw guard Nic Moore, an Illinois State signee, that secured the Indiana All-Stars a 117-113 victory over a collection of Indiana’s top junior prospects.

Moore netted two 3-point baskets in the final minute of the game to boost the seniors to a win in their first of two exhibition contests in lieu of the two-game series this weekend versus the Kentucky All-Stars.

Marquis Teague, a University of Kentucky recruit from Indianapolis Pike, contributed 24 points, and Gary Wallace star Branden Dawson, who will attend Michigan State, added 19.

Indiana All-Stars from Southern Indiana also contributed to the seniors’ victory: New Albany’s Chris Whitehead had two layups and a jump shot for six points, and Bloomington South’s Dee Davis and Castle’s Eric Stutz scored four a piece.

D.J. Balentine, of Kokomo, connected on seven 3-pointers and put in 25 points to lead the Junior All-Stars.
