KSBL Outdoor Night

A unique high school basketball event is coming soon to the top-flight outdoor courts at Kevin Hammersmith Memorial Park in New Albany.

The Kentuckiana Summer Basketball League and Floyd County Parks and Recreation are partnering to stage KSBL Outdoor Night presented by Frank H. Monroe Heating and Cooling on Friday, June 3.

The park is home to Romeo Langford Court and the covered Phillips Pavilion Court, two of the nicest outdoor courts in the Midwest.

The event will feature a Southern Indiana versus Metro Louisville theme, matching up high school teams from both sides of the river.

Two girls’ games will kick off the festivities at 4 p.m., with Silver Creek (Ind.) matching up with Sacred Heart (Ky.) and Clarksville (Ind.) facing Portland Christian (Ky.).

The boys’ action begins at 5 p.m., with Clarksville (Ind.) taking on Beth Haven (Ky.).

Charlestown and DeSales will hook up at 6 p.m., along with Providence (Ind.) versus Butler (Ky.).

At 7 p.m., New Albany (Ind.) will meet Manual (Ky.) and Corydon (Ind.) will battle Bullitt East (Ky.).

The event will conclude with two 8 p.m. tip offs, pitting Jeffersonville (Ind.) against Male (Ky.) and Floyd Central (Ind.) versus Evangel (Ky.).

Admission is $3 per person. Concessions will be sold by Legends Cafe, a new establishment in New Albany. All spectators should bring a lawn or bag chair as permanent seating near the courts is limited.

LOCATION/ADDRESS: Romeo Langford Court and the covered Phillips Pavilion Court are located at Kevin Hammersmith Memorial Park, behind Northside Christian Church on Charlestown Road. The park’s address is 4400 Lewis Endres Parkway, New Albany, IN 47150.

ARRIVAL TIME: It’s important that we stay on schedule. Please arrive at the park at least 45 minutes in advance of your scheduled game time.

PARKING: In addition to basketball, a sizable crowd will be on hand for New Albany Little League baseball and softball games. The park also recently debuted a state-of-the-art inclusive playground and splash pad that is attracting big numbers. It’s important you arrive early, drop players off near the courts and locate a parking spot within the park or the Northside Church lot.

WEATHER: The event will be canceled if there is inclement weather. There will be no makeup date, and the games will not be moved to an indoor location.

BASKETBALLS: Do not bring basketballs to this event. All basketballs needed for warm ups and games will be provided at your court.

JERSEY NUMBERS REQUIRED: Players will foul out upon receiving a fifth foul. Please make sure each player has a unique uniform number so our table workers can accurately track individual fouls.

SPECTATOR ADMISSION: All spectators entering the basketball courts area will be charged $3.

SPECTATOR SEATING: We highly recommend that all spectators arrive early and bring a lawn or bag chair. Permanent seating and space is limited.

PARKS RULES: No alcoholic beverages in the park. No smoking near the basketball courts. No foul language.

CONCESSIONS: Concessions will be available on site — including food, sodas, sports drinks and bottled water — from our friends at Legends Cafe, a new establishment in New Albany.
