Darion Hutchinson excited about future at Bellarmine

February 2, 2011

Darion HutchinsonScottsburg senior Darion Hutchinson, noted as one of the top Class of 2011 girls prospects in Southern Indiana, made her college decision official last October during the early signing period, choosing to stay local and continue her career at Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky.

“I chose (Bellarmine) because I really like the coaching staff and the girls on the team,” Hutchinson said. “(The school) also has a great academic reputation.”

Hutchinson, who chose the Division II Knights over interest from Austin Peay, Indiana Wesleyan,  Northern Kentucky, Ohio Dominican, South Carolina Upstate, Transylvania and Valparaiso, said she preferred to “stay close to home so my family can enjoy my college basketball experience.”

“Division I or II did not matter to me,” she explained.  “I wanted a school where I could get an excellent education and play basketball. It was a win-win for me.”
