Campbellsville hands IU Southeast 80-74 defeat

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Host Campbellsville knocked off Indiana University Southeast 80-74 in the final round of the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon to give the Grenadiers their ninth loss in 11 games to open the season.

IU Southeast led 38-27 with 3:36 to go in the first half after an Anthony Wales Jr. layup, but the Tigers closed the half on an 11-0 run to tie the game. The Grenadiers had a 60-56 advantage after a Jared Osborne layup with 10:38 left, but a 17-6 Tiger run broke the game open.

Osborne, a senior guard, scored 25 of his game-high 32 points in the second half. He went 13 for 26 from the floor and grabbed 3 boards and handed out 3 assists. Wales added 16 points and 7 rebounds and Glenn Hill Jr. finished with 13 points before fouling out.

Clarksville graduate Jaren Starks had 2 points in the loss. Former Charlestown star Caleb Brown was 0 for 6 and went scoreless for IU Southeast, which has a week off before going to Terre Haute to take on St. Mary of the Woods at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Tigers had four players score in double figures, led by 18 points from sophomore forward Jarius Key, who also had 11 rebounds and 4 assists as Campbellsville improved to 7-3 with the win.
