COLORADO SPRINGS — Former Floyd Central star Jake Heidbreder had a career-high 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as his Air Force Falcons dropped a 91-77 Mountain West Conference game Saturday at Clune Arena.

Heidbreder, whose previous high was 16 points in a loss to Colorado State on Jan. 22, went 7 for 10 from the field, 3 for 4 from 3-point range and made all three of his free throw attempts. He also had six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Junior forward Nick Jackson also had his best game of the season for the Falcons with nine points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots.

Air Force fell behind 43-30 at halftime before fighting back to within 51-48 with 13:35. New Mexico responded with a game-clinching 32-15 run.

The star of the game was New Mexico’s Jaelen House. The junior guard nearly tripled his season average with a season-best 42 points. He went 15 for 22 form the field, made four of his seven 3 attempts and eight of his nine free throw attempts as the Lobos improved to 9-14 overall and 2-8 in the Mountain West.

Air Force (10-11, 3-7 MWC), which has lost three in a row, got 18 points from senior guard A.J. Walker. The Falcons will look to end their losing streak Tuesday when they travel to Las Vegas to face 13-10 UNLV. That game is scheduled for 10 p.m. locally and can be seen on CBS Sports Network.
