IUK snaps Grenadiers’ 8-game winning streak

KOKOMO — Twenty-fifth ranked IU Kokomo blew past IU Southeast for a 69-48 victory, ending the Grenadiers’ 8-game winning streak in the process.

IUK (26-3, 16-1) will be the top seed in the River States Conference Tournament next week. The Cougars have won the West Division and hold a 2-game lead over Alice Lloyd (24-3, 14-3).

IU Southeast (14-15, 11-6) shot just 34.6 percent (20 for 58) in Tuesday’s loss. Glenn Hill Jr. (Louisville/Southern) and Jared Osborne (Mt. Washington, Ky./Bullitt East) were the only Grenadiers who shot well. Hill finished with 18 points on 9 of 13 shooting, while Osborne added 17 and was 5 for 11 from the floor.

Senior guard Allante Harper (Indianapolis/Warren Central) led IUK with 18 points, while senior forward Desean Hampton (Speedway) had 13 points and 21 rebounds.

IU Southeast closes out its regular season Saturday with a 2 p.m. start at Oakland City (11-17, 9-8). The RSC Tournament begins next week at Midway (Ky.).
