Heidbreder scores 7 as Air Force blasts Army

COLORADO SPRINGSJake Heidbreder had 7 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds to help Air Force knock off rival Army, 76-58 Saturday in Colorado Springs.

Air Force, which has won seven straight after opening the season with a loss at South Dakota, dominated from start to finish. The Falcons scored the game’s first 9 points, took a 14-5 lead with 13:07 to go in the first half following a pair of Heidbreder baskets and took a 45-13 advantage into the halftime break.

Air Force led 51-23 after the final basket from Heidbreder, a freshman from Floyd Central.

Senior guard A.J. Walker led all scorers with 23 points. He also had 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman guard Ethan Taylor added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the Falcons, who shot 55.8 percent from the floor (29 of 52) and held the Knights to 17 of 49 (34.7 percent).

Army’s leading scorer was sophomore Jalen Rucker, who finished with 17 points.

Air Force goes to Montana on Wednesday for a 9 p.m. tipoff. That game — along with the Falcons’ next two games at Arkansas State and Tarleton — can be seen on ESPN Plus.
