MISSOULA, Mont. — Former Floyd Central star Jake Heidbreder had 10 points and a team-best 4 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for Air Force in a 66-48 loss at Montana on Wednesday evening at Dahlberg Arena.

Heidbreder, a freshman, played 38 of the game’s 40 minutes and went 4 for 7 from the field and 2 for 4 from behind the 3-point arc. He also had one assist.

Heidbreder’s first basket was a 3-pointer with 5:19 left in the first half. That tied the game at 21-apiece. The Grizzlies went on a 14-3 run to close the half and led 35-24 at the break.

Heidbreder had a 5-point run of his own — a 3-pointer and a layup — that pulled the Falcons within 45-32 with 13:28 left in the contest. Two A.J. Walker free throws with 4:28 to go got Air Force (7-2) within 8 — at 54-46 — but Montana (6-4) closed on a 12-2 run to close out the victory.

Walker, a senior guard, led the Falcons with 18 points. He and freshman guard Ethan Taylor played all 40 minutes for Air Force, which shot just 34.8 percent (16 of 46) for the contest. Taylor had 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the loss, just the second for Air Force this season.

Senior guard Cameron Parker had 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists off the Montana bench.

The Falcons have 11 days off before traveling to Arkansas State on Dec. 9. That game is scheduled for noon and can be seen on ESPN Plus.
