Langford scores 5 in Celtics’ loss in L.A.

LOS ANGELES — A night after scoring 5 points at Staples Center on Tuesday night against the Lakers, Romeo Langford scored 4 in a 114-111 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at the same venue Wednesday.

Langford went 2 for 3 from the field and had 3 rebounds, an assist and a steal in 11 minutes as Boston dropped its third straight decision.

The New Albany graduate gave the Celtics a 19-17 lead immediately after entering the game in the first quarter Wednesday. HIs layup 2 minutes later increased the Boston advantage to 24-19.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 29 points. Rookie Brandon Boston Jr., from Kentucky, was 9 for 13 from the field and led L.A. with 27 points and 4 steals in 25 minutes. The Clippers (14-12) were without Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Serge Ibaka.

Langford and the 13-13 Celtics return to action Friday when they visit Western Conference champion Phoenix, which has a league-best 20-4 record. The game is scheduled for 10 p.m. on ESPN.
