ATHENS, Ohio — Former Silver Creek star Kooper Jacobi went scoreless, but his Toledo Rockets moved into first place with an 87-69 win at Ohio in a Mid-American Conference showdown Friday evening.

Toledo went on a 24-12 run midway through the first half and controlled the rest of the contest and snapped the Bobcats’ 9-game winning streak.

All five Toledo starters played at least 30 minutes, leaving little time for the reserves. Jacobi’s 8 minutes was second-most off the Rocket bench. The freshman didn’t attempt a field goal but grabbed a pair of rebounds.

Sophomore guard Ryan Rollins led all scorers with 26 points. He also had six rebounds and five assists in the win. Junior guard RayJ Dennis added 18 and Setric Millner Jr. had 17.

Ohio (14-3, 5-1) was led by senior forward Jason Carter’s 19 points and seven rebounds.

Toledo, which is 15-4 overall, 7-1 in the MAC and has won six games in a row, hosts Buffalo (10-6, 4-2) on Tuesday. The Bulls have won four consecutive games. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN Plus.
