Borden (16-7) avenged an earlier loss against favored Rock Creek then held off a game Christian Academy team to win its first sectional championship in nine years.

The Braves got revenge for an earlier 57-42 home loss to Rock Creek (14-9) in Friday’s semifinals, despite the Lions’ size advantage.

The next night, Borden had to overcome an early deficit then hold off an upstart Christian Academy (12-14) squad for a 53-51 win, the program’s fifth sectional title and a pair of Hoosier Hills Hoops Boys’ Wins of the Week.

The 16th-ranked Braves will play Springs Valley (22-3) in the opening round of the Class A Loogootee Regional on Saturday. The winner will face the winner between No. 2 North Daviess (23-3) and No. 7 Edinburgh (22-3) in Saturday night’s championship game.
