DEFIANCE, Ohio — Defiance star Marell Jordan went the length of the floor and scored the game-winning layup with 4 seconds left to give the Yellow Jackets a 74-73 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting Hanover on Saturday.

The loss was the first this season for Hanover, which took a 73-72 lead on a pair of Max Munoz (Indianapolis/Southport) free throws with 10 seconds left. Jordan, who came in averaging 23.5 points per game, had a cold shooting night but came up big when it mattered Saturday at the Weaner Community Center.

Jordan finished with 19 points — on 6 of 19 shooting. That was one point shy of team lead Andre Edwards’ co-game-high 20 points. Munoz also had 20 for the Panthers, who trailed most of the contest, including 42-36 at the half.

Christian Academy graduate Noah Williams had a big night for the Panthers. He finished with 18 points and was successful on 6 of his 7 field goal attempts. The Jeffersonville resident made all 3 of his 3-point attempts and had 3 assists and 2 rebounds in defeat.

Former New Albany star Isaac Hibbard had 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting. He also had 3 rebounds, a steal and a blocked shots for Hanover, which shot 56.3 percent for the game (27 of 48).

Max Greenmoyer (Zionsville/University) finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the Panthers, who go to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip. The Fightin’ Engineers defeated Mount St. Joseph 60-56 Saturday for their third straight win.
